Hiking Series -- One of two choices:
overnight backpacking into Echo Lake or just day
hiking the Ellenville Ice Caves
Please RSVP if you are interested in an overnight backpacking trip with a 6-mile walk in along an old road. Camping will be by a lake. Not far in the distance are the ruins of a partly built hotel. There is also a State fire tower and great cliff top views over the Hudson valley. If there is not enough interest, I will do day hiking to Ellenville, NY to visit the lesser well known mountainside Ice Caves. Head up from Ellenville on Smiley Road, loop around to High Point, and then descend to the Ice Caves along a brushy, unmaintained trail. Dinner near Ellenville if we do the Ice Caves. 7 miles or 14 miles |
