Join In

Join BGALA through the recently introduced online tool for MIT's LGBT community - MIT QNET. MIT QNET offers many features and benefits, including:

* Brings together alumni, faculty, staff, and students together in an online community.
* Facilitates creation of localized groups and mailing lists for alumni across the country, so they can connect, network and socialize with each other.
* Allows you to invite other LGBT alumni, staff, and students to join MIT QNET.
* Creates a "safe space" where somebody who is just coming out can sign up and see that they are not alone at MIT.
* Privacy:
- MIT QNET is not open to the entire MIT alumni community, so you don't have to list yourself as a BGALA member in MIT's Alumni Directory.
- You decide what information you share with others.

Volunteering with BGALA

Volunteers Needed!
We are looking for volunteers to assist us with the following projects:

-Publishing a newsletter updating members on GLB-related events at MIT. (Did you know that MIT has a Gay Studies program? I sure didn't...)
-A social network. E.g., "I'm going to New York for the holidays. Who do we know up there?"
-Setting up a MIT BGALA directory to include all members who want their names published. -Developing a political action network. E.g., "MIT has decided to tax all GLB students $500 a year, on the grounds that they have the unfair advantage of having better mental health, since they throw better parties. Write Charles Vest NOW!"
-Creating a financial network. E.g., Harvard has an alumni/ae foundation called The Open Gate which raises up to $20,000 a year to fund GLB projects on campus. They fund everything from academic programs to guest speakers to an audiotext hotline. (MIT has already set up a special fund to support GLB programs, and you can designate that you want your contributions to go to that fund.)

So, come and join us in the planning and meet our enthusiastic group of officers and members!

What we're looking for....

People interested in helping run BGALA programs, especially women alumnae.

Donating to BGALA and MIT

If you're donating money to the Institute, and you want it to go to support bisexual, gay and lesbian programs, use account number 2961200. Donations sent to that account are used for programs and services that work to improve conditions for current LBGT students and their allies on campus!

If you wish to to donate to BGALA, use account number 2456600. Donations sent to that account will support BGALA activities throughout the year.

Making a gift is as easy as clicking on the "Make a Gift" link under Quick Links in the upper right corner of the page.
