President's Letter - November 2009

It has been an exciting fall for the MIT Club of Washington with many great events. On this website you can find information on some of our upcoming events as we move into the new year. I think you will find that our Club continues to offer many opportunities to network with your fellow MIT alums.

Highlights include dinner talks featuring distinguished MIT professors and other thought leaders in the areas of energy, life sciences, technology, management, economics, national security policy, and more. These events will feature speakers like Simon Johnson, the Ronald A. Kurtz (1954) Professor of Entrepreneurship at MIT Sloan School of Management, and Ernest J. Moniz, Professor of Physics and Cecil & Ida Green Distinguished Professor.

Other upcoming Club events include our annual Career Workshop, held in partnership with our area Sloan Alumni group, the Seminar Series on hand-held Communicators, and MIT Enterprise Forum StartupLabs and Annual Gala. And we look forward to continuing our series of embassy events--the latest were Canada and Israel this past fall--with a visit to the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates.

You may also notice that we've added some new content to our website this year, write-ups of past events and info about our K-12 Education affiliate program--our newest Club program that is kicking off this year. In the future, we will be providing  opportunities for those that attend our Club events to share their experiences, pictures, and other related information. We may also include updates on local alums in the news.

As we tend to have many events that are only advertised by e-mail, such as opportunities to tour the White House, I would like to remind everyone to keep their e-mail and postal address contact information current on the Infinite Connection. If you have not already done so, register now or update your info. Don't miss out on any of our outstanding events! It is the best way to ensure that we can reach you when such opportunities arise.
