Our Dues Year - September through August

Our dues year continues to be from September 1 to August 31, basically, the academic year. In the first print newsletter of every academic year there is always a membership blank. If you don't pay in time for the second newsletter, you will receive a brightly colored newsletter that has a note on the back "green means that your dues are due." Gray, after the first newsletter, means that we have received your dues and, after the first newsletter, members who have paid their dues will no longer receive a dues page. Many thanks to the alums who pay after they receive our first newsletter. It makes life much easier.

Scholarship Contributions

You contribute to The MIT Club of Washington Scholarship at the same time as you pay your dues or anytime at all. You can contribute either by check or online by credit card.

As of April, 2006 the book value of the Scholarship was $248,650--this is the actual amount given by the Club/members to this scholarship, and the market value was $601,012. Your scholarship donation helps MIT educate the best and the brightest from the Greater Washington DC area.

Tax Deductions

The MIT Club of Washington is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Payment Methods

Pay by Check

Pay dues by check using either the printer-friendly membership form (PDF) or, if you can't view PDF files, the membership form below. You can contribute to The Club of Washington Scholarship at the same time as you pay your dues.

Pay Online by Credit Card using SmarTrans

If you already know how to pay dues via SmarTrans, pay dues and/or contribute to The MIT Club of Washington Scholarship by credit card now using SmarTrans. Otherwise, please read the following instructions, which you may wish to print before proceeding.

You can pay for yourself, or you can pay for another alum, such as your spouse or child, using Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.  You can only pay for one person at a time. You can contribute to The Club of Washington Scholarship at the same time as you pay dues.

Pay Your Own dues Online with a Credit Card

You must have an Infinite Connection account to pay dues online. If you don't, sign up for a free Infinite Connection account; but you'll need to wait about 30 minutes after you sign up before you'll be able to log in and pay dues. When you click the link at the bottom of this section, you will be prompted to log in using your MIT Infinite Connection account.

When you have entered your login info, click the red "Login and Pay Dues" button.

After you log in, you will see the membership form, already filled in with your first name, last name, email address, and postal address, as they appear in your Infinite Connection account. (MIT keeps middle names, too, but they do not appear in SmarTrans.)

If your name has changed, please notify MIT by calling 1-800-MIT-1861 or via email to mitalum@mit.edu. You can do that later, after you pay your dues.

Check your email address. It is used to send you a confirmation of your transaction. You can change it if you want the confirmation sent to a different email address; this alternate email address will never be used to update your Infinite Connection account. You can also leave the email field blank, but then you won't get an email confirmation.

Select your membership category ("Dues Type") by clicking one of the radio buttons (circles) to the left of your desired category.

If you wish to add a scholarship contribution to The MIT Club of Washington Scholarship fund, enter the dollar amount under "Make a Donation."

Check your billing address.  This is pre-filled with your address on record in the Infinite Connection. If it does not match the billing address for the credit card you will use to pay, you can change it, and, optionally, save the change as your new home or business address in your Infinite Connection account by clicking the appropriate radio button (circle) just below the Country field. If your address is correct, but doesn't match the address that goes with the credit card you will use to pay, change the address on this page; just don't click one of the radio buttons to save it.

Select an answer for any survey questions that appear, and click the "Continue" button.

You will then see a form for entering your credit card information.  You can use any valid Visa, MasterCard, or American Express credit card. The name on the card does not have to be your name. Please check your information carefully then click the "pay dues" button.

Once you have finished paying your dues, you will receive a confirmation via email.

Pay Dues by Credit Card Now using SmarTrans
Note: SmarTrans is down for maintenance every Sunday morning from 2:00 - 2:30 a.m.

Pay dues for another alum, e.g., your spouse or child.

Anyone can pay dues for an alum via SmarTrans by logging into their account.

The name that appears when you log in is the name of the alum for whom you are paying dues. In this case, it is not the "payee" even though is is called that on the form.

Any email address that appears is the alum's email address, but you can overwrite it with your own email address. This email address is where the transaction confirmation will be sent.

The billing address that appears will be the alum's address, so, if necessary, change it to match the billing address associated with the credit card you will use to pay. You can use any valid credit card. The name on the card does not have to be the name of the alumnus/a for whom you are paying dues.
