Washington, DC 20007

Friday, November 20, 2009
6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Our November venue is the second oldest building in the District of Columbia. It was built in 1796, when Georgetown was well established but the City of Washington was still a vast construction site. The City Tavern was a focal point for Georgetown elections and civic events, and was associated with Presidents Washington, Jefferson, and Adams.

The building and its furnishings were restored in 1962 and present a fine example of the American Federal Style. For views of the City Tavern please see http://www.citytavernclubdc.org.

Attire is business or cocktail. Guests are welcome. We will have hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.

Reservations: Advanced payment registration is $30. Registration by email, phone, or at the door is $35. To register and pay in advance, write a check payable to "The Dartmouth Club of Washington DC," note your school on the check, and mail it to Dan Crowley, 1440 N St NW #202, Washington, DC 20005. Ivy Social Club December Event

DACOR-Bacon House

Washington, D.C. 20006

Friday, December 4, 2009
6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

The Stanford Club of Washington D.C. invites you to the Ivy Social Club Holiday Party! Our venue is the elegant, historic DACOR- Bacon House (built 1824-25), home to several Supreme Court Justices and a Maryland governor. U.S. Congressman from New York, Robert Low Bacon and his wife, Virginia Murray Bacon, lived in the house until 1980. Upon her death Virginia bequeathed the building and furnishings as a memorial to her husband. The DACOR- Bacon House and Foundation now serve as a "place to facilitate international peace and understanding" as well as a conference and meeting place for Diplomatic and Consular Officers, Retired (DACOR).

Wear your festive party apparel! Each floor of the DACOR-Bacon House will be beautifully decorated for the holiday season. We will feast on scrumptious hors d'oeuvres and will serve libations from a cash bar. In the spirit of the season, we also ask that guests bring a non-perishable food item to donate. Stanford will deliver the collected food to a local D.C. food pantry.

Reservations: Please mail $30 by check payable to the "WDCSA" or "Washington DC Stanford Association" to Phebe Greenwood, 504 Gaslight Drive, Richmond, Virginia 23229. Checks need to be received by Monday, November 30th. Please note your school on the memo line of the check. Proceeds from the event are donated to participating schools based on attendance.

Email reservations and walk-ins: $35 at the door. E-mail reservations by November 30th to Charlotte Perry at charmperry@aol.com with Ivy Party in the subject line. Walk-ins are welcome, however advance reservations are strongly encouraged as space is limited.

Metro: Take the Orange/Blue Line to Farragut West. Walk 3 blocks south on 18th St NW.

Parking: Street parking is available after 6:30 pm. Please be aware that most nearby parking garages close early. Check with the garage attendant.
