Google group for Sloanies

Due to popular demand, a Sloanies in the UK Google Group has been created. For those of you who are Sloan alums or current students and wish to join the Google Group,  please send a request to Yiting (yshen@sloan.mit.edu) indicating your preferred email address and class year.

The purpose of the group is to share Sloanies life stories, seek help from other fellow Sloanies, and keep in touch.

You can find more information about the Google Group at  http://groups.google.com/group/mitsloan_uk, and previous email logs to decide whether this is a valuable service for you.  Currently there are 50 Sloanies in the UK included in the Google Group. Further questions / comments, please do not hesitate to contact Yiting.

Simon Stokes, Club Counsel, Ordained

On Saturday, 20th June, 2008, Simon Stokes, the club's counsel for many years was ordained as a deacon in the Church of England at St Paul's Cathedral on Saturday.  The event was attended by the club's president Linda, her husband, John, and  their daughter Rachel - and Yiting Shen, the club's membership VP.   A party was held afterwards, close to St Paul's, in Charterhouse, where Simon lives.

Simon said "It was a wonderful day.   It has taken me three years of part time study for a theology degree to reach this point and I'll spend the next four years with a parish just North of the City of London (www.holyredeemer.co.uk/) and it is planned I am ordained a priest this time next year.  I remain in full time employment as a solicitor and law firm partner.
