MIT Alum Serving On International Space Station Expedition 9 Crew

As the Expedition 9 crew, NASA astronaut Edward Michael "Mike" Fincke ‘89 and Russian cosmonaut Gennady Padalka are currently on the International Space Station for a 6 month mission.  They traveled to the Station aboard the Russian Soyuz 8 spacecraft on April 18, 2004.  Check out the latest mission status at  http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/home/index.html

Our next happy hour is “north” of the village at Taco Milagro (think patio with palm trees).  Taco Milagro features a “Tequila Bar” offering customized margaritas and over 50 premium tequilas.  There is also a “Salsa Bar” featuring a variety of salsa condiments made fresh daily (we checked and dancing on the Salsa Bar is not permitted !)

2004 Club Membership Drive

It’s time once again, time for the annual MIT Club of South Texas membership drive.  The MIT Club of South Texas invites you to join or renew your membership for 2004. 

Membership in the club runs coincident with the calendar year, which means that those members who paid their dues before October 1, 2003 need to renew now for 2004.  Membership is open to all MIT alumni and alumnae, as well as current undergraduate and graduate students and their parents.

Your dues in the local club are used to pay for mailing announcements and the newsletter, sponsor events for local high school students accepted at the Institute, award prizes at local science fairs, and improve local science and math education through our Leadership in Education Program (LEAP).  Although we do benefit from some administrative assistance from the Institute, the MIT Club of South Texas does not receive funding from MIT or from the Alumni/ae Association.
