Young Alumni Happy Hour – Oktoberfest !
Saturday, October 26, 2002
6:00pm

Flying Saucer Draught Emporium
705 Main Street, Downtown Houston
http://www.beerknurd.com/houston/brews.shtml

We return to the Flying Saucer for Oktoberfest 2002!  This establishment is still easy to find even with the Main Street construction.  The Flying Saucer has a “UFO club”:   you get a magnetic striped card to keep track as you sample all 200 beers).  Special note to Graduates Of the Last Decade (GOLD):  the Club will provide the first round of beverages.  Of course, Alums of all decades are welcome!

Questions?  Contact Raul Valdez, 713-245-7645

November International Dining Club
Polish Cuisine
Saturday, November 9, 2002
7:00pm

Janina's Restaurant
1304M Blalock, Houston
Houston, TX 77055

Janina's has received rave reviews by the Houston media and was just recently named the Best Polish Restaurant in the Houston Press (although that distinction is less meaningful once you learn it is the only Polish restaurant in Houston!).  We planned the meal with Janina herself and we will have traditional Polish dishes such as Rosol or Barszez Czerwony Czysty, Pierogi Z Miesem and Pierogi Ruskie, Golabki, Krokiety, Chicken "De Volaille", and Nalesniki for desert.  As usual, wine and beer are extra but soft drinks or tea or coffee are included.  The price, which includes tax and tip is $17 per person.  No shows will be charged.

The restaurant is small so we can handle only 25 people – preference will be given to 2002 dues paid members.

SEATS STILL AVAILABLE - RSVP DEADLINE EXTENDED
Please RSVP to Anwer Hussain or 281.752.9123 (home).

Click here for a map – the restaurant is located at the corner of Blalock and Westview, just north of the Katy Freeway (exit Blalock/Campbell).

Join the MIT Enterprise Forum on Thursday, November 20th for a fascinating glimpse into the world of nanotechnology.   Dr. Edwin Thomas of MIT shares his strategies in obtaining $50 M in research funding in a highly competitive environment to establish the Soldier Institute for Nanotechnology.  Learn how our military forces plan to apply groundbreaking nanotechnology developments to protect soldiers, and hear how these same technologies will yield lucrative commercial opportunities for the Soldier Institute’s corporate partners Raytheon and Dupont.   Networking at 5:15, presentation at 5:45; Hess Club at 5430 Westheimer near the Galleria.
