Happy Hour at Garden In The Heights
Thursday Sept 27 at 6pm
The Homegrown Texas Jam - Garden in the Heights

Featuring: Delbert McClinton and Jesse Dayton

In light of the recent events, MIT Club of S. Texas, almost cancelled this month's happy hour.  Humbled by the tragic events, our appreciation for our basic civil freedoms has grown.  One freedom, many could not live without, is the freedom to drink beer.  Let's show our support of this freedom and in the face of those who claim Americans are over indulgent, let's show them we that we not only drink, but drink responsibly.

Peace,

Buffalo Bayou Canoe Trip
Sunday, October 21
1 - 6 pm

URBAN NATURE ADVENTURE - REVISITED

This popular event from last year is being offered again! It's scheduled for Sunday, October 21, 1-6pm. The canoe trip goes slowly - you paddle - 2 people per canoe - down Buffalo Bayou from the West Loop to the Shepherd overpass on Memorial, where we left the cars - a much longer trip by water than by driving. Along the way, it will be hard to realize you're in the middle of Houston - we'll see various wildlife, including large & small birds. Last year we saw several Great Blue Herons and evidence of several water's-edge type mammals. Brief talks on the Bayou and its history & condition will be given occasionally. This is a family event, and the cost is $40 per person (children 9 & up), which includes well-experienced guides, all needed equipment and a snack along the way. Space is limited, so call soon with questions, reservations and directions. I've been on this trip twice, and it was great both times!

7:00pm Dinner
RSVP by Monday, October 22

The MIT International Dining Club returns to Europe with dinner at Café Montrose, 1609 Westheimer, Houston on Saturday, October 27 with social time starting at 6:30 pm and dinner at 7:00 pm.   Diners have raved about the food in a recent Houston Chronicle Dining Guide column and you'll enjoy Belgian specialties like Waterzooi of chicken or carbonade.  Café Montrose also has an interesting and unusual selection of Belgian beer and several Belgian wines.

The cost will be $25 per person (includes appetizer, soup, dessert, tax and tip).  As always, beer and wine is extra. This is a little more than we've paid in the past but MIT regulars at Café Montrose claim it is well worth it!

Please RSVP to me by Monday, October 22, work: 713.431.6518 or home 281.558.0436.
