Updated Sept 4:  Maps to Reggae Hut Added

Happy Hour at Mi Luna Restaurant – Tuesday, August 29th

International Dining Club at Reggae Hut - Saturday, September 9

Happy Hour at Mi Luna Restaraunt 2441 University Blvd
Tuesday August 29th starting at 6:30pm.

It's appreciation night - $2.00 Ritas, Sangria and Tapas!
http://houston.citysearch.com/E/V/HOUTX/0000/84/57/

For those who haven't tried Tapas before they are small enough to try several.  They describe several tapas under "Menu Highlights". Here's a couple that are simply delish:

Salmon a Noso Estilo
Marinated salmon filet wrapped in serrano ham, baked in the wood oven;
served on a bed of sautéed wild mushrooms.

Calamares Fritos a la Romana
Lightly-breaded fried squid with a spicy tomato sauce.

Peace,

Raul Valdez

PS. Labor day is the following weekend so hopefully everyone will be in the vacation spirit.

In July, we went to a Cuban restaurant.  We now turn south on our Caribbean tour for hospitality from another island.   Our next International Dinner will be at "Reggae Hut", a Jamaican restaurant.  Reggae Hut is on Almeda Road, just west of Highway 288 and just south of I-59.  Some dishes planned for us are Jerked Chicken, Honey Mustard Wings, Jamaican Sweet Potato Pudding, and other island delights.

The cost is $15, which covers food, soft drinks, tax, and tip, with wine and beer extra.  The address is 4814 Almeda in Houston (tel. 713-524-2905). The restaurant is on the west side of Almeda, between Wentworth and Arbor, which is between the major streets of Blodgett and Southmore (one parking lot just behind the row of restaurants/stores and another across the street). Check the club website for a map.

Please RSVP to me at home at 281-480-3467, or via e-mail, by Wednesday, September 6.  Seating is limited to 25 people, so dues-paid members (& their guests) have priority.  Also, at a dinner recently, we were charged for no-shows, so if you can't make it, PLEASE CALL ME!  I hope to see you there!

Finally, the International Dinner following this is planned for November. Further details in a future e-mail and/or newsletter, or check our web site.
