The October 2009 *InterClub Happy Hour is hosted by Columbia and will be held at the Firkin and Phoenix Pub (wow, what a funky name – we dare you to say that 5 times quickly!).  The pub will be offering us happy hour pricing on select domestic beers The last time the InterClub was at this pub was March 2008 and there were quite a few of us who stayed for the Karaoke - in fact, two InterClub-er’s won the “be the first to sing and win a shot” challenge. Since Halloween is just around the corner from this year’s event, we can call it “Scare-a-oke.”  Our recent happy hours were very well attended and we saw many new faces - click here to see pictures from past happy hours.

The Houston *InterClub now has a FaceBook page !

A small group of MIT alums is meeting periodically to enjoy a round of golf together.  We currently have a group of eight on our list of participants and normally have a foursome for our "come-if-you-can" outings.

The MIT golf group enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at the Cinco Ranch Golf Club on Friday, September 18, 2009.  The weather was mild and the course in good shape.  Our foursome of Tomas Gonzalez, Bob Lait, Guy Vachon, and Greg Turner had a great time discussing golf, MIT, and family.  Tomas and Guy even discovered that they spent their younger years growing up not far apart in Puerto Rico.  In between the fun, we actually hit some golf shots—many of them good, and a few that could have stood some improvement!

Please join us on Sunday afternoon, October 25, 2009 when we travel to Lufkin to enjoy the terrific layout at Crown Colony Country Club, one of the top rated courses in Texas.  Tomas Gonzalez will be hosting us for the day.  If you are not on our distribution list and wish to be, please e-mail
Greg Turner golf @ mithouston.org .  We will take reservations now for October 25, so please e-mail Greg soon.
