Welcome to the MIT Club of Princeton!
The MIT Club of Princeton was established in 1975 as a nonprofit business, professional, educational and scholastic organization affiliated with the Alumni Association of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Club's goals are to serve as a focus of alumni activity in the areas of central New Jersey and nearby Pennsylvania, to promote the business, professional and academic interests of MIT Alumni/ae, to inspire friendship among them and to foster a continuing relationship with the Institute. The Club strives toward these goals by arranging lectures, plant tours, cultural activities and social events throughout the year for its members and their families and friends.

The MIT Club of Princeton sponsors many events, driven by the interests of our membership. There are lecture series, social events such as the summer BBQ and holiday potluck, monthly happy hours, wine tastings, museum and opera events, business networking events, IvyPlus activities and family friendly excursions, to name a few. We're working hard to serve you! If you have an idea for an event, we welcome your feedback.
IvyPlus Young Alumni Happy Hour!, 6:30pm, Tuesday, June 30th
Come have fun, share a drink, and meet with other young alumni at this month's IvyPlus happy hour at Sotto. Guests are welcome! All guests must be accompanied by an IvyPlus member.
Summer Picnic, 3:30pm, Sunday, July 12th
Enjoy an afternoon of good food, fun, and great conversation with local MIT alums and families in the elegant gardens of Ashok Madhavan and Shabnam Kazmi. We provide burgers, hotdogs, beer, wine, and soft drinks. You bring your favorite picnic treat. Register for the Summer picnic today. 2009 Elections
If you have an interest in becoming more actively involved in the MIT Club of Princeton, please let us know. We have a variety of officer and board positions which offer opportunities to work on projects ranging from corporate governance, lectures and plant tours, to social events and new programs and initiatives. YOU make the time commitment that suits your needs. All MIT alumni are welcome and encouraged to participate. Set the direction of the club and shape the future! Summer BBQ a big success
On Saturday, August 9th, the MIT Club of Princeton held its annual summer picnic at the home of Win and Linda Cody, in Cranbury NJ.
We had a wonderful turnout for the picnic and approximately 60 people attended the event on a near perfect summer day. Attendees included some of the teachers whom the club sponsored to the MIT SEPT program. It was great to spend the afternoon with fellow alums and enjoy such wonderful food, fellowship, and delightful conversation. Special thanks to our hosts, Win and Linda Cody, for opening up their beautiful home and pool to us and making this year's picnic such a wonderful event! It was a wonderful way to start off the new membership year and we look forward to seeing all our members at events throughout the year!
World Hurricane Expert comes to Princeton
That was a fantastic talk. Prof. Emanuel is one of the world's experts on the physics of hurricanes. His study of physical oceanography and atmospheric physics provides his a unique perspective of how these incredible phonemena occur. While discussing the history of hurricanes, their names, Mayan roots for the name hurricane and their formation, development and ultimate demise, Prof. Emanuel also discussed the effects of coastal human inhabitation on climate change. While he does not see much change in the number of annual hurricanes, he sees an increase in intensity over the years.
The event was attended by about 75 MIT alumni,several local high school students and the general public (because of the writeup in US-1). The talk was preceded by a showing of the PBS Nova documentary 'Hurricane Katrina: The Storm that Drowned a City'.
Dinner with MIT Alumni Association President, Harbo Jensen PhD '74
On Thursday, November 1, 2007, the MIT Club of Princeton hosted a dinner for current and past volunteers in the Princeton area with special guest, Harbo P. Jensen, PhD '74. Dr. Jensen is the 113th President of the MIT Alumni Association with a term for the 2007-2008 year.
The dinner was held at the home of Ram Iyer, President of the MIT Club of Princeton. There were 23 alums, many Education Counselor volunteers, a parent connector, board members and some new faces. There were also four past presidents of the club in attendance. Dr. Jensen spoke recent events at MIT and current initiatives underway. He previewed pictures of some of the new buildings that have gone up on campus. He engaged the audience with a discussion of the energy and biotech initiatives of President Susan Hockfield.
MIT Club of Princeton IvyPlus Wine Tasting
The MIT Club of Princeton hosted an IvyPlus winetasting event on Sunday, April 29, 2007. According to Larry Ward, VP of Partnerships, over 35 members and their guests attended the event which was held at Crossing Vineyards in Washington Crossing, PA. Attendees enjoyed tasting an assortment of wines and cheeses in an intimate setting and a good time was shared by all! Tom Carroll, Sr., one of the owner's of the winery, eagerly imparted his extensive knowledge of wine and attendees learned quite a bit about the various wines, wine tasting, and the winemaking process while enjoying a spectacular view of the vineyard's 15 active acres.

MIT Club of Princeton Membership
Membership in the Club is open to all MIT Alumni/ae (as recognized by the MIT Alumni Association), or persons who have been associated in any official capacity with the MIT instructing or administrative staff. Individuals not eligible for membership, desiring to support and participate in Club activities, may become nonvoting Associates.
