MIT Club of Orlando

An Invitation From Our President

October 15, 2002

Dear Alumnus/Alumna of MIT,

The MIT club of Orlando has had many events, both social and intellectual, over the past few years. Everything from a lecture from one of the survivors of the USS Indianapolis, the crew of which were in the shark invested ocean for four days, to "Kitchen Chemistry" by Dr. Patti Christie of MIT. Our plans for last year were disrupted by the events of 9/11, and we are in the process of planning this year's events.

We hope to have some very interesting activities that will serve the professional and personal needs of the Alumni community. We could use your help in two ways. The first is to tell us what kind of event would interest you. We are always looking for ideas. The second is to become a member, to get involved at the events, whether interacting socially or networking professionally. In particular, we wouold welcome the involvement of new volunteers. We know that everyone is busy, but if we can get a couple people working on each event, the time spent would be minimal, and the entire club would benefit. Please join us in our efforts to maintain a vital network in the Central Florida area for alumni of the obviously best university in the world.

Enclosed you will find an invitaiton to an event on November 20th featuring the MIT Alumni Association President, James Lash '66. In addition, the annual appeal for membership in our club is enclosed. Please take a few minutes to respond to both. On the membership form you will find a list of activities and commitees that you can volunteer for and support the club. We want to continue to provide the local alumni with interesting and provocative programs but we need more volunteers to make it happen.

If you would like to get involved now, contact me at 407-482-5235 (home), 321-867-5422 (work) or via email: jeffmitchell@alum.mit.edu.

I look forward to seeing you on November 20th.

Sincerely,
Jeff Mitchell EE '76
