Dinner at The Woodlands Club

39 Woods Road, Falmouth

Wednesday, October 14

Just 4 months ago, on the MIT Cambridge campus, the worlds best known Buddhist leader, the Dalai Lama, officially opened  MIT’s Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values. With the creation and launch of this new “Think Tank”, MIT broke new ground. No other major science and research institution has created a place where students learn how to embody and advance such “universal values” as compassion and peace. Such character training has become increasingly important as MIT is “an institute that grooms technocrats and world leaders” said Venerable Tenzin Priyadarshi, the Buddhist monk who directs the center.

The Venerable Tenzin has noted that “In this recent financial crisis most of the people running Wall Street came from several Ivy League schools.  When you look at the issues underlying the crisis -- greed and deceit – why where these not addressed when they were being educated”
