The MIT Club of Ireland
is small by alumni associations elsewhere in the world we are
very active.
One of our major activities
is the presentation of a Science Medal to the best science paper
at junior certificate level (equivalent of high school). This
is very successful.
We have been working
with Lord Rosse at Birr Scientific Centre, for the last 3 years,
in making this event an enriching experience. Birr Caslte contains
the largest Victorian refracting telescope. Clicking on the link

We are pleased to announce
new sponsership arragements with the Bank of Ireland and Intel.
The Bank of Ireland have undertaken the sponsorship of the medal
and event while Intel have undertaken a book sponsorship for
the student and his/her teacher.
The Irish Science Teachers
Association have also been generous in preseneting a prize to
the medal winner's science teacher.
The virtuality department

maintains this site. Any questions about membership or other

MIT Club of Ireland
The association of MIT Alumni and Alumnae, est. 1875 is an independent volunteer organisation that helps 84,000 former MIT students stay in touch with each other, with faculty, students and MIT itself. The MIT club of Ireland is the Irish part of this organisation. The MIT Club of Ireland is a non-profit organisation formed by graduates of MIT normally resident in Ireland. The Club through its activities aims to foster the development and understanding of Science in its broadest sense. The medal is one of these activities.
The club has been in existence since 1992. Members are involved in almost every aspect of academic and professional life, including, Architecture, Chemistry, Economics, Electronics, Engineering, Food Science, Management, Mathematics and Physics.
