Why
should I go to the Pi Reunion?
Well,
you're not going to be going to class or taking any tests at the reunion.
And frankly everyone is going to have such an amazing time that you will
be KICKING yourself years from now when you realize you had the opportunity
to take on Vegas and you didn't do it!!!
People
from the class of 1997 are STILL talking about how awesome their Pi Reunion
was. More compellingly, in a couple of years, we'll all have CHILDREN
and/or "serious" jobs and/or other responsibilities and committments to
deal with - this is one of our best opportunities to be young and have
fun before it's "TOO LATE"!!
Are
we getting subsidized?
The Class
of 2000 will be using some of its limited resources to subsidize the events
during the reunion but we cannot subsidize individual costs. If you
*are* a starving grad student and would be interested in being subsidized
if funds become available, contact Anna.
Part of
the beauty of Vegas is that costs can be kept down if 4 or 5 other people
get in on a room and food is always cheap.
If you're
interested in donating funds to subsidize the cost of the trip for starving
grad student alumni, please contact Anna as arrangements can be made.
I
want to go to Vegas but I don't know anyone else who's going,
can
I stay in a room with some other people in the same situation?
Yes.
But first off you should smack your MIT friends around and convince them
to GO TO VEGAS even if they are a workoholic tax attorney who never takes
a vacation. We'll be collecting names of people who want to share a room
Is
there free food?
Not exactly.
Many cheap buffets / all-you-can-eat lobster and steak specials can be
found in Vegas, for insider tips check out www.insidervlv.com/buffets.html
The banquet
will be a bargain price for the quality of food and location chosen.
Can
I bring a guest?
Absolutely.
Bring MIT alumni from other years, bring your significant other(s), bring
your family, bring your venture capitalists, bring Natalie Portman, whatever.
The more the merrier. We want YOU to have fun at the event, so bring
as many fun people with you as possible. But book your room NOW because
there will NOT be extra space at the Venetian at our bargain rates at the
last minute!!!
Where
is the banquet?
The
Reunion Banquet (the most important event of the reunion) will take
place Saturday night, September 6th. We will be dining at the Grand
Lux Cafe, also known as the high-end sister restaurant of the nationally
acclaimed Cheesecake Factory. We've heard that this is the busiest
restaurant in Vegas and the second busiest restaurant in the country!
We were VERY lucky to be able to get space on a Saturday night,
and even luckier to negotiate a great price for a fabulous seated
three-course meal offering your choice of three different entree
selections. Tickets are $55 a person, through Kim at TravelSwitch.

Are
we going to the Cirque du Soleil "O" show?
Yes,
but since they don't offer group discounts, it's up to you to buy
your ticket.
You can buy tickets
for the show by calling 888-488-7111. Tickets for "O" are $136.00, $113.00, and
$90.00 plus tax.
Two shows
are held nightly Wednesday through Sunday at 7:30pm and 10:30pm.
(We are aiming for the 10:30 showing)
