Classmate Updates

Juintow Lin and Michael Fox (SM Architecture 1996) have moved to Dana Point, CA and are both teaching at Cal Poly Pomona in the Department of Architecture while maintaining their architectural practice, FoxLin. They are pleased to announce the birth of their son, Juneau Archer Foxlin, born August 12, 2008.

Marisa (Culmone) and Brian Zuzga ‘94 welcomed their son Aaron on October 11, 2008. Their daughter Sophia is now 6 years old and excited to have a little brother. Brian is working for Archimedes, an independent Healthcare Modeling organization located in San Francisco. Marisa is working on starting a green technology company, developing a zero emissions combined heat and power engine.

Todd Borzych has been living part time in two different worlds. In one, he has been an officer in the United States Air Force reserves after several years on active duty. His other world is that of a professional ballroom and Latin dancer. Todd pioneered a fitness workout called DanceSport Endurance for ballroom and Latin dancers that has taken off and is spreading along the east coast. He has taught along side the dancers fromDancing with the Stars at dance camps in Florida and DC and has had a great time doing so. If you come through the DC area, stop in and visit; Todd always likes to meet new MIT alumni.

Steve Chan reports that he and his wife, Sol (Kim) Chan ’96, welcomed Zachary Chan into the world on December 5, 2008. He weighed in at 8 lbs and was 19 inches long. In between feedings and diaper changes, Steve is finishing his cardiology fellowship at MGH in Boston.

Felicia (Moss) and Ari Trachtenberg‘94 welcomed a baby boy in May 2008. Baby Menashe adores and is adored by his big brothers Benni and Yoni.

Sherry (Wu) Lewis and her husband, Robert, welcomed their third child, a girl named Sophie Marie, on September 19, 2008 in Rockville, MD. In 2007, Sherry decided to return to engineering after working almost six years in management consulting. After a few weeks of maternity leave, Sherry will continue her nuclear engineering position with the U.S. Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board, which oversees nuclear safety at many U.S. Department of Energy sites.

Conan Ham is coping with being laid off for the 3rd time in 10 years. Each time he has had to leap industries and start anew to find a job, but this time, he has too much "experience" and gets eliminated from consideration forentry level positions or has too little experience to be qualified for the advertised "experienced" positions. It is interesting being caught in the middle and hopefully by the time this issue is printed he will have something.

Anna (Tomassini) and Jose Plehn ’96 recently moved to Philadelphia where he is now an Assistant Professor at the Fox School of Business at Temple University. Anna started at Lockheed Commercial Space Systems in September.

Brian Robertson recently left SunEdison, having helped co-found it five years ago, to start a solar PV module manufacturer called Sunworks. He and his wife Eileen and their three kids are living in the greater Washington DC area.

After 14 years with Pacbell/SBC/AT&T Rupert Young’s job was moved to Dallas and he decided to leave the security of a big company and joined a start-up in December 2008 so that he could stay in the Bay Area. By the time this is printed, hopefully it will be clear that it was a good decision and his new company will have left stealth mode and lots of real customers will have signed up to use their products. On a personal note, Rupert has been happily married for almost 12 years and has a six year old son and a two year old daughter who keep him very busy.
