July/August 2008

Hi everyone!

I would like to begin this issue’s notes by introducing the newest recipient of the Lizette Arce-Doshi Memorial Fund. Tiffany Chang ’09, hails from Pleasanton, CA and is studying course 6. She is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, the Association of Tiawanese Students, the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and the MIT Wind Ensemble. She also serves as an officer for the Society of Women Engineers. Tiffany participated in a UROP at the Research Laboratory of Electronics examining speech and its relation to physical movement and during the summer of 2007, she interned at Oracle writing software for their new Fusion application.

On behalf of those associated with the MIT Alumni Funds, I would like to send sincere thanks to all of our classmates who continue to support MIT students through this and other scholarships.

And now on to our classmate’s news…

At the time of this printing, Ranjini Srikantiah and her family will be celebrating the first birthday of her daughter, Reyva Mason Poage, who was born August 17 in Ridgewood, NJ. Tejan, who turned five in May, is thrilled to be a big brother and continues to learn karate so he can defend her from enemies. Ranjini will have completed eight years of employment with Stryker, a medical device company, and her husband Dale continues to teach 8th grade English and coach the high school boys’ basketball team in Ramsey, NJ

Lydia (Chan) Timpson and husband Mark welcomed their second child Nathaniel on February 18 of this year. His sister Carys, who is nearly two, is overjoyed and using him as a doll already. And Tracy (Back) Embree reports that her expat assignment in the United Kingdom for Cummins is coming to an end. Tracy, her husband, Kevin, and 2 year old son, Carson, will be moving back to the US in April. They are headed back to Columbus, Indiana where Tracy has accepted a job as Executive Director of the Chrysler Business for Cummins (they supply the diesel engines to Chrysler for the Dodge Ram pickup truck). She is now learning everything she can about the pickup truck market before they come back to the US!

Thank you to everyone who has submitted updates over the past few months. Please remember that you can submit updates and photos any time throughout the year to be posted on our class website, http://alumweb.mit.edu/classes/1995/.
