Hi Everyone!

Starting in sunny California, Anca Mosoiu is doing non-photorealistic 3D rendering in San Francisco for a company formerly called ThinkFish, founded by Rolf Rando '94, Benson Wen '92 and two of their friends. She is rooming with Edward Baltz, who is pursuing a PhD in physics at UC Berkeley. Yeh-Jiun Tung, is working on poly-silicon thin-film transistors for flat panel displays for his PhD project at Berkeley. He is doing some work at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as well, and is having fun with his new 1991 Honda CRX Si! Stephen Chan is in his third year of an MD/PhD program at UCSF, and is enjoying San Francisco. Raj Sodhi is working for HP out in Santa Rosa. He enjoys the music culture there as well as his acting class. Ben Yu and Sheila Mathis are both in the PhD program at UC Santa Barbara in Materials Science. Eric Fong has left AlliedSignal Aerospace in Torrance, CA, and has taken a new job with TenFold Corporation in San Francisco, where Steve Lin and Manish Muzumdar are currently working. Congrats to Nupur Gupta and Mehul Shah '96, who got married in January in India. Mehul is doing a PhD at Berkeley and Nupur is working for Xilinx in San Francisco.

Congratulations also to Anna Tomassini and Jose Plehn-Dujowich '96, who were recently engaged and will be getting married Aug 7, 1999 in Dallas, TX, and to Keith Bevans, who is getting married in late March. Karin Lin and Cade Murray '96 were wed in October in Manhattan, Kansas. There were a number of MIT alumni at the wedding (see photo). They also have an online wedding album at http://surfers-paradise.berkeley.edu/Karin/wedalbum/main.htm. Tony Sebro is in his third year of a JD/MBA program at the University of Michigan. Raj Sarkar is working for Ford in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Joe Veys is in his third year of med school at Ohio State University, thinking about opthamology as a specialty. Tracy Back was accepted to Harvard Business School and will be starting in January 1999. Until then she plans to continue working for Colgate in Ohio and hopes to take a decent vacation before she starts school.

Matt Becker is planning to finish his PhD in Course 6 in December, then he and Holly Goo are planning to get married in January. Sang (Sean) Pak is at Harvard Law School. He is going to be working in the Bay Area and LA for this summer. Heather Wages is now teaching high school chemistry in Sharon, MA. Half of her job is regular classroom teaching, and the other half is teaching science to students who are having a difficult time functioning in the mainstream school, due to mental, health, or drug issues. Every day brings new and interesting challenges as she tries to catch kids up ("you haven't attended biology since October? okay, this is a cell....") or improvise labs ("today we are going to build a molecule out of gummy bears and lunchroom sporks!") She will be in Ohio with her family over the summer. After 1 year of absence from MIT, Rogelio Razo, Jr. is back at MIT. He is getting an MBA and is really looking forward to graduating in June. I will be joining the Leaders for Manufacturing Program at MIT this June 1998. Jose Luis Elizondo is still working as an engineer for ALTech in Boston and composing music. He was a featured composer at the Laboratorio Novamusica Festival in Italy (Venice), and was honored by an orchestra in England which decided to name an award after him. Jose has been invited by the Mexico City Chamber Orchestra to conduct the premiere of one of his compositions at the end of March. His work "Estampas Mexicanas", which has been performed in four continents in over 40 concerts, will be featured at the Banff International Music Festival in Canada this summer. Congrats!

Moving south, Ellen Block is now living in Manhattan, pursuing a PhD in Immunology at Cornell University Graduate School of Medical Sciences. She really likes living in New York and loves being back in school. After Phoebe Fu graduated, she worked at Raytheon in Kendall Square for about 1.5 years as a process engineer. Then she went back to NYC in May 1997 to look for another job and to change careers. She is now working at Citibank (the bankcard division) as an analyst. Morgan Slade is still in New York trading emerging market currencies and developing quantitative trading strategies. Recently he vacationed in Arizona where he spent several days snowboarding and relaxing with friends and family. In May he traveled to London, Germany and France for two weeks on business and pleasure. Terry Chong is also in NYC, attending medical school. Shraddha Dalal will be starting an MBA program at Wharton in the fall.

Alex Chen (currently at Georgetown University medical school) and Jenny Lee (currently at George Washington medical school) were engaged on Jan. 23, 1998, and hope to be married in 1999 upon graduating. Also in the DC area, Lynn Yang, has taken a job at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA), a research organization for the Department of Defense. After working on environmental issues for a few years, defense work is a big change, but she says it's refreshing to check out a new city, and a different area of research. After finishing his EIP MEng degree, Jay Moore became a Lieutenant in the Air Force and has been stationed at Eglin AFB, FL. He was responsible for the development of new smart weapons, and he is the technical lead on a small program, providing guidance. He says it's nice not to have to do the grunge work, but he feels a little starved for a good technical challenge (rather than managerial) every now and then. He and Shirley Lin are still engaged, still not yet married. Shirley is at Stanford, about halfway through a PhD in chemistry. Brian Davies is in the PhD program at UT Southwestern.

In the international scene, Masahiko Nagamiya has been working for Toyota in Toyota city, Japan, doing interior engineering for a model that will be released in the near future. If anyone out there speaks Japanese and is interested in the company, send Masa mail at masa@saku.dm.toyota.co.jp. Wynne Kwan has been been in Singapore working for JTC International. She is based in Singapore, but through her work as a town planner she has planned industrial developments in other countries in the South East Asia region such as Thailand, India. Though she does miss the US, Wynne is having a great time there meeting many wonderful people, both local and from all over the world, and has participated in MIT Club of Singapore events. In January, Tom Lawrence started a new job as a hot-runner designer with Husky Injection Molding Systems. He'll be in training at the company's main location in Toronto, Ontario, until June, when he will be transferred permanently to a brand new site in Milton, VT. Oliver Schneider is married and working in Belgium.

Thanks again to everyone who has sent me notes!
