One part of our class gift is designated to the Class of 1987 Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship Fund was started in 1992 at the 5th Reunion, and enough interest was accumulated to allow the first award to be given out in 1994.
The most recent recipient is Elizabeth Jordan '05 of Latham New York. Elizabeth has been the Class of '87 scholar since 2001. Elizabeth graduated from Latham High School in 2001. She was a member of the school's student government and worked on the yearbook and the school newspaper. She was also a member of the Key Club and a participant in the mock trial staging.
At MIT, Elizabeth is majoring in Aeronautics and Astronautics, and is a member of MIT's Rocketry Club. She also participates in Alternative Spring Break, an organization that coordinates community service trips for MIT students over Spring Break. During the summer, she worked as a research assistant at the Research Foundation of SUNY Albany, NY. She enjoys participating in community service projects when she has the time, and plans a career in aerospace engineering.
Elizabeth graduated from MIT in 2005 with an SB in Aeronautics and Astronautics
