Plan for 2007

  • Update Web sites with names and contact information, and, if time, biographical sketches of the newly elected class officers
  • Fill any vacant officer positions
  • At least one member of the class officer team should attend the Alumni Leadership Conference (ALC) and report back to fellow officers
  • Hold annual class officer meeting (whether in person, by teleconference or Web). Discussion may include, but is not limited to, the following:
    • Establish goals of class during the upcoming four non-reunion years
    • Discuss ways to keep classmates involved and informed
    • Develop communications strategy for the year, which may include:
      • Post-reunion report to class (attendance, reunion gift, use of class dues, recognition of past officers and reunion volunteers, posting of photos on class Web site, etc.)
      • Class Notes schedule (6 times per year) and deadlines
      • Soliciting class notes from class using listserv
      • Regularly scheduled updates to the class Web site (at least quarterly)
      • Develop a class e-newsletter. A newsletter might include information about classmates from class notes, updates on the class project, or announcements about the class project.
    • Plan possible non-reunion year events, such as a mini-reunion or smaller regional events in areas where there is a critical mass of classmates. Possible events might include:
      • Organizing a class presence at a local club event (e.g. Class of 1989 table at Club of Boston Gala)
      • Casual social events in different cities (pub nights, barbecues at classmates’ homes, tours of local attractions)
      • Large scale mini-reunion at a resort area (e.g. Las Vegas, Miami). An event of this scale requires considerable planning.
      • Organizing a group of classmates to attend Tech Reunions events, such as Tech Night at Pops or Technology Day
    • Discuss dues collection process for next reunion. The Alumni Association recommends that classes collected dues once every five years. Most classes collect dues in their reunion year, but there may be some instances where dues are collected in a non-reunion year.
    • Annual officer reports, including:
      • Treasurer’s report
      • Secretary’s report on deceased and missing alumni
      • Class Agent’s report on class giving and projects
