The Class of 1967 mini-Reunion - September 11, 2009

The Class of 1967 mini-Reunion is planned for Friday, September 11, 2009. Yes, this is a significant day. We will have a short remembrance for the Sept 11, 2001 people. There are two class activities on this day. The main one is the reception and dinner at the St. Botolph Club at 199 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, starting at 6PM. Our own Don & Glenda Mattes are members there and helped us get this dinner reservation. We can be Boston Brahmins for a day. You can get a sense of this splendid venue from this review. Among the Club's 300 current members are two former Presidents of MIT, Paul Stookey of Peter,Paul, & Mary fame, the cellist Yoyo Ma, BSO conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, lawyer Alan Dershowitz and numerous current and retired members of the MIT faculty. Capacity is limited, so please register early if you can.

The other activity fits well with this. Just prior to the dinner, from 4 to 6PM, there will be a Back Bay tour by noted local historian and architect Ed Gordon. Ed knows - and loves - this area and its unique character. Please remember MIT was born in the Back Bay. We will meet at the Boston Public Library at 4PM for this tour, which will conclude at the St. Botolph Club.

The cost for the dinner is $80 per person, and the tour is an extra $15. You can pick the tour & dinner or just dinner only on your Ticket Type when you register. Wine is included in the dinner. Dress is jacket and tie for men. CLICK HERE to register.

If you cannot solve the on-line credit card registration, please send a check - made out to MIT Class of '67 - to Class Treasurer Joel Shwimer at 21 Old Stagecoach Road, Bedford, MA 01730-1246. Since space is limited, early registrations are strongly encouraged. And if an emergency forces you to cancel, the class will refund whatever you paid (less $20) if received a week before the event.

40th Reunion awarded Presidential Citation!

At the Alumni Leadership Conference in September 2008, our class was awarded a Presidential Citation for our 40th Reunion effort. This is the highest award given to groups by the MIT Alumni Association. Our June, 2007 reunion recorded the highest ever attendance for an MIT 40th. But more than that, the people who came had just a good time, reconnecting with MIT and classmates and friends, old and new.

2012 Reunion Plans - Our 45th and other mini-reunions

Our 40th Reunion exceeded all expectations. A record turnout of the largest 40th Reunion class ever combined with great weather and excellent event planning helped all to enjoy our 40th Reunion. So now we have to move on to new horizons and start thinking about our 45th Reunion as well as any other mini-reunions we may be planning before then. If you have any ideas or want to volunteer, please contact John Rudy or Bob Ferrara.

40th Reunion Gift

The 40th Reunion Gift Committee turned in very good results, raising in excess of $3 Million and participation exceeding 67%. The Committee was co-chaired by Barbara Desmond Gilchrest and Jeff Wiesen. Other Committee members included John Acevedo, Pete Denton, Bill Dix Jr., Bob Ferrara, Edie Goldenberg, Harold Granek, Eric Johnson, Rick Koehler Jr., Chuck Kolb, Frank March, Tom Newkirk, Stan Rose, Andy Skibo, Jim Swanson, Bill Thilly, Robert Todd, and Dennis Womack-Kalla.
