Another short news issue... Tim Carney continues to work in world trouble spots. He spent a week in Kabul at the end of March because he was asked to head a team in support of the Afghan elections scheduled for August. Tim met with the Afghan Independent Electoral Commission, Interior Ministry, Defense Ministry Officials and NATO military figures to discuss electoral operations and electoral security as well as with the press and human rights organizations on the key question of a level playing field for presidential candidates. His team worked closely with the UN family and other donor countries to help Afghans realize good elections. When I asked about the missing Francine Berube in our call email column, no one had any idea who she was. Perhaps someone in another class year can enlighten us.Eleanore Klepser, secretary
