TECHNOLOGY REVIEW CLASS OF 1963 NOTES MAY/JUNE, 1997 ISSUE (Sent
February 9, 1997)
John K. Castle, XIV, was named to the board
of directors of the United Hospital Fund. He is very active in the field
of health care and has written several health care guides. He serves on
several corporate boards and is a trustee of the New York Medical College.
He is currently a member of the Whitehead Institute of Biomedical Research
and chairman of the board of associates. John is chairman and CEO of Castle
Harlan, Inc...
Stephen Fischer, XVIII, writes that he is glad to return to
being a full time faculty member after a three year term as chairman of
the mathematics department at Northwestern University...
Dr. Stephen Miller, VI, was awarded a Macy Institute Scholarship
to study medical education at Harvard Medical School. His fourth book (this
one on cardiac radiology) was published last June; he recently returned
from lecturing in Austria...
Franklin Cocks, III, now of the department of mechanical engineering
and material science at Duke University, writes cryptically to say that
at some later date he'll tell the story of the genesis of the Class of
'63 loan fund which he estimates is now nearing $1,000,000. Why the mystery,
Franklin? What do you know, and when did you know it?...On a related point,
the Class of '63 Phi Theta Delta Scholarship Fund has selected William
Shen as this year's recipient. He is a junior from Ohio and is majoring
in economics. He is very active in campus extracurricular activities and
is doing his UROP project at the Sloan Center for Coordination Science.
I haven't received much news from our classmates
