The Alumni Association maintains a moderated mail list server for our class. It's a great way to get news of class activities. In order to receive mail from this list, your email address must be made known to the Alumni/ae Association. Send your full name and e-mail address to MITalum@mit.edu, and ask to be put on the class of 1963 List Server. You can expect a mailing not more often than once a month. We are formulating email list guidelines. To submit items for inclusion in the monthly mailings, send them to the Class of 1963 Webmaster, Ron Young. MIT Class of 1963 Email List Guidelines

A volunteer from the class serves as the list editor to manage the distribution of information and decide what is appropriate to send to the class. This person is currently Ron Young.
A staff member is the second editor of the list but does not have distribution responsibilities
All members of the class with email addresses on record at MIT are put onto the class email list. If class members do not want to subscribe, they should notify the Alumni Association at MITalum@mit.edu.
The first email to the entire list should introduce the concept of the list with guidelines for its use. Since names are added automatically to the list as alumni add their email addresses to the MIT records, this introductory email message should be sent out periodically.
It is the responsibility of the alumni to keep their email addresses current on MIT records. One way to make updating easier is for alumni to register for Email Forwarding for Life.
The e-mail list is not a chat group. We have a Planning Chat Group.
Please remember that not everyone in the class has email. The email list should not be used as the primary tool for distributing information to classmates.

Suggested Frequency

Information will be collected by the list editor, who will moderate and send out the the mailing at most, once a month. Since alumni may belong to many lists, we do not want to overburden our classmates.

Email "spam" (general humor email, chain letters, broadcast messages, messages from outside vendors)
Anything you wouldn't write in a letter
