50th Reunion Chair Letter

Greetings Classmates,
Our 50th reunion is rapidly approaching…In ten months the largest gathering of our class since Commencement 1960 will take place back at MIT. . . and we want you to be with us for a great celebration. The festivities will start at Tech and then will continue on to the vacation resort of Newport, Rhode Island, for recreation, sightseeing, and relaxing…Save these dates:

June 3-6, 2010 – Reunion events at MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts

June 6-8, 2010 – Reunion events in Newport, Rhode Island

These will be exciting, fun-filled days, with plenty of time to socialize with old friends and meet new ones, plus you’ll be able to • attend Tech Night at the Pops • see the remarkable changes to the MIT campus in the past five decades • enjoy wonderfully informative talks • partake of several social gatherings featuring delicious dining and entertainment • visit old haunts . . . and much more. See the terrific schedule of events on the next sheet. The schedule of reunion events, along with reunion updates, also may be found on our class web site – http://alumweb.mit.edu/classes/1960, and clicking “reunion.” If you’re planning to celebrate our 50th in person, please reserve your hotel rooms soon. We’ve obtain some very special room rates at our headquarter hotels – the Cambridge Marriott Hotel ($189+tax/night) and the Newport Marriott Hotel ($269+tax/night). See the schedule page for links to these hotels; the group rate code for the Cambridge Marriott Hotel is: for the Newport Marriott the group rate code is: MITMITA

One of our biggest initiatives for our 50th reunion is a 50th year reunion book containing, among other features, a class directory and biographies of our classmates, including yours. WE NEED YOUR INPUT to make the book a successful and valuable book. See the link in the home page for information on submitting your biographical information and current photo. Please submit this information ASAP. The deadline for submitting information for the class directory is October 15, 2009; for your biographical writeup and photo, January 10, 2010. Don’t miss out on being included in these sections of the reunion book. More updates will follow – on the class web site and by regular mail. If you have questions about our June 2010 reunion plans, please check with our staffer at the Alumni Association, Robert Dimmick, at 617-253-8225 or rdimmick@mit.edu

All of us on the committee look forward to seeing you next June.
Regards,
Carl Swanson, Reunion Committee Chair
