Scotty Patrick writes from Dublin, OH where he works for Ashland Specialty Chemical Company that he recently traveled with eight buddies to the Holy Land of golf, St. Andrews, Scotland. This year the same group's pilgrimage is to Ireland. Besides golf, Scotty's main interest is staying healthy so he can run and play racquetball. Ben Insera writes that he is working flextime as a construction manager with Riverso Associates, Scarsdale, NY. Ben spends one week each year in Honduras assisting a medical/dental team. Ben has been doing this volunteer work for nine years. Hal Smith writes from Beaverton, OR where he is President of Contamination Control Services Northwest, Inc. that he regrets that he couldn't make it to the June reunion. Hal's principal interests are square dancing, fishing, gardening and travel.

Bill Alcorn writes from Chagrin Falls, OH that he is continuing to write plays and, more recently, personal essays. Bill gave his first six to the kids last Christmas. His favorite authors in this area include E.B. White, Lewis Thomas and Joan Didion. For several years Bill and Susan have used their vacation time to attend a variety of personal growth workshops at places like the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY where they learn about subjects such as intuition, creativity, awareness, psychic phenomena, quantum physics and consciousness. Last fall they had some training from an ex-Army officer who was part of a 20-year military/CIA program in psychic spying. To Bill's amazement, he found that he had some psychic ability. Bill highly recommends a book by Russell Targ and Jane Katra titled "Miracles of Mind (1998). Bill is Board President of his Unitarian Church and a trustee on the Interchurch Council of Greater Cleveland, a social action organization that operates hunger centers and a shelter for women. Bill would like to correspond with any classmates prowling around similar interests.

Richard Kain writes that in June 1998 he retired from teaching Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Minnesota where he had been teaching for 32 years. Richard says that he now has more time for photography. During 1996 and 1997 he participated in photography trips to Kenya and Antarctica (the latter including the Falkland Islands and South Georgia Island). Richard has had several photography shows in the Twin Cities area and occasionally sells his prints. Hank Salzhauer reports that Bob Gal is expecting a grandchild in September. Bob denies it. He says that his daughter-in-law is expecting the child. Jack Safirstein says that his daughter is expecting a child this fall, which, I believe, would be Jack's fourth grandchild.
