The Grasshopper and the Ants

Grasshopper thought that it was fair

To have some ants give him a share

Of food for which they'd labored long,

And he would pay them with a song.

The ants perhaps were too astute

To give up food without dispute,

But Armadillo ate the lot,

And now what had Grasshopper got?

Then while he wondered what to eat,

A walking stick made him its meat;

Now ants and he have all been ate,

And that's as fair as life can get.
