September 2009 Class Notes
John Kocher has called our attention to a CNBC website that ranks colleges according to the salaries of its graduates.
Check it out at

It is very interesting reading. Some points we noticed:
- MIT is near the top of the list. It is, in fact, tied for second with some other school located in Cambridge MA.
- Starting salaries have gone up since our day.
- Wait until you see the picture they have of MIT!
Gerry Lessells and
Dave Gushee, whose professional paths differed significantly from each other's but who ran across each other regularly during the 1960s and 1970s at meetings of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, have finally been able to engineer another meeting. Gerry reported to you last Spring about the untimely loss of his dear wife Jo and told of his plans to take a several month trip through the East visiting relatives and old friends who have known and appreciated her through the years. Dave was fortunate to be included. Dave and Gerry report, "We met in Front Royal, VA in late August and had a whale of a time remembering our years at Tech, our experiences as chemical engineers, and our activities in AIChE that brought us together those many years ago. A major thread in our conversations was what being MIT alumni has meant to us -- in technical education of course, but also in formation of our character and values as professionals. The picture of us is in Dave's front yard."
Gerry will be back in Tucson soon and would welcome visits from any alumni passing through.
