A recipient of funding from the Class of 1938 Beta Theta Pi Award for 1997-98 has been determined. It gives me great pleasure to write and tell you a little bit about his activities at MIT.

Daniel Castro, an electrical engineering and computer science major from Los Angeles, CA has been renewed for his senior year. Daniel continues to work hard to excel academically and is considering a career in law, particularly patent law. Besides his participation in fraternity activities, Daniel plays varsity football, works as a security monitor at DuPont Athletic Center and at the front desk of Bexley Hall, and belongs to LUChA, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, and Mexican Americans in Engineering and Science.

Without the support of your classmates, MIT could not maintain its commitment to admitting the best and brightest students, regardless of need. With tuition fees growing and federal student assistance dollars ever shrinking, scholarships are more important than ever to delivering education of the highest standard.
