As you know Randall Graebner, a senior from Roswell, GA, has been selected as the Class of 1938 Beta Theta Phi Scholar for 1999-2000. I was delighted to learn that you had the opportunity to meet Randall at a brunch on campus in early November. Although I am sure you learned much more in your conversation with Randall, I thought you would like to see the information that the Student Financial Aid Office shared with us about him.

Majoring in Course 6.3, Randall has an outstanding academic record. He is working on a remote education system written in Java in the Laboratory for Computer Science as a participant in UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program). A former treasurer of Beta Theta Pi, Randall also has served as risk manager for the chapter. He enjoys sports, especially soccer and baseball. He plays baseball in a competitive adult league and also volunteers as a coach and umpire. Very active in a local Catholic church, he assists at Sunday mass. For the past two summers, he has interned for Siemens Corp. near his home in Georgia. He hopes to remain at MIT for a fifth year master’s program. He plans to eventually pursue a career in computer programming and internet services.

As you know, support from the Class of 1938 helps MIT maintain its commitment to admitting the best and brightest, regardless of need. On behalf of the Alumni Association and the Institute, I send sincere thanks for contributions to this fund by you and the Class of 1938.
