2001-2002
I am delighted
to report the Class of 1933 Kimball Scholarship awardees for 2001/2002.
Rajini Haraksingh ’05 of St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago has
been selected as the new class scholar this year. Itty Samuel ’04
of Bridgeport, Connecticut will continue as class scholar this year.
Rajini
Haraksingh ’05, who has yet to decide on a major, graduated
this spring from St. Augustine Girls High School in Trinidad, where her
interests centered around dance, swimming, and acting. Last summer Rajini
spent worked toward and attending the International Math Olympiad in Washington.
She plans a career in genetic research
Itty
Samuel ’04, who is majoring in electrical engineering and
computer science, has settled into MacGregor House and is active in the
Campus Crusade for Christ, as well as the South Asian-American Society.
He was a city days volunteer last year and was involved in the MIT Admissions
Office’s “Project Contact,” a program designed to facilitate
the transition from high school to college. Itty worked term-time at the
MIT Science Library. He worked as a developer for IBM in Hawthorne, New
York last summer. He also plans a career in electrical engineering and
ocmputer science
As you know,
support from the Class of 1933 helps MIT maintains its commitment to admitting
the best and brightest, regardless of need. On behalf of the Alumni Association
and the Institute, I send sincere thanks for the Class of 1933’s
