2002-2003
I am delighted
to report the Class of 1933 Scholarship Fund awardees. Jin Suk Kim ’06,
of Maple Glen, Pennsylvania has been selected as the new scholar for 2002/2003.
Also, continuing as class scholars this year are Daniel Nunes ’04,
of Saint Clair Shore, Michigan and Agnieszka Koscielniak ’05, of
Frederick, Maryland.
Jin
Suk Kim ’06, who has yet to choice a major, graduated in
June from Upper Dublin High School, where he was active in student government,
serving as activities chair in his senior year and as treasurer in his
junior year. A pianist, Jin Suk has accompanied his church choir for four
years and has played in the school orchestra. He plays tennis recreationally
and has been doing medical research at the University of Pennsylvania
for the past two years. Jin Suk plans a career as a physician or in medical
research.
Daniel
Nunes ’04, who is majoring in electrical engineering and
computer science, is an active brother of the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity,
where he is currently serving as webmaster and class president. He assists
the leadership of the Tech Catholic Community as choir director and pianist.
Daniel spends much of his free time composing music and playing a variety
of intramural sports, including soccer, volleyball and hockey. He spent
last summer working at E.P. Limited, a biotech company, in Somerville,
MA. At his job, he developed software to control a liver tumor ablation
system that the company is designing. Daniel plans to either join the
US Air Force or pursue a career in the biotech industry or patent law.
Agnieszka
Koscielniak ’05, who is majoring in aeronautical and astronautical
engineering, is a member of the MIT concert band, and is involved with
Habitat for Humanity. During the term, she works as a ‘Tech Caller’
for the MIT Alumni Association. Agnieszka’s interests include music
and swimming. She spent last summer researching at the University of Maryland
Institute for Systems Research. Agnieszka plans a career in aerospace
engineering.
As you know,
support from the Class of 1933 helps MIT maintain its commitment to admitting
the best and brightest, regardless of need. On behalf of the Alumni Association
and the Institute, I send sincere thanks for the Class of 1933’s
contributions to this fund.
