Class of 1933 Scholarship Fund Awardees

2002-2003

I am delighted to report the Class of 1933 Scholarship Fund awardees. Jin Suk Kim ’06, of Maple Glen, Pennsylvania has been selected as the new scholar for 2002/2003. Also, continuing as class scholars this year are Daniel Nunes ’04, of Saint Clair Shore, Michigan and Agnieszka Koscielniak ’05, of Frederick, Maryland.

Jin Suk Kim ’06, who has yet to choice a major, graduated in June from Upper Dublin High School, where he was active in student government, serving as activities chair in his senior year and as treasurer in his junior year. A pianist, Jin Suk has accompanied his church choir for four years and has played in the school orchestra. He plays tennis recreationally and has been doing medical research at the University of Pennsylvania for the past two years. Jin Suk plans a career as a physician or in medical research.

Daniel Nunes ’04, who is majoring in electrical engineering and computer science, is an active brother of the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity, where he is currently serving as webmaster and class president. He assists the leadership of the Tech Catholic Community as choir director and pianist. Daniel spends much of his free time composing music and playing a variety of intramural sports, including soccer, volleyball and hockey. He spent last summer working at E.P. Limited, a biotech company, in Somerville, MA. At his job, he developed software to control a liver tumor ablation system that the company is designing. Daniel plans to either join the US Air Force or pursue a career in the biotech industry or patent law.

Agnieszka Koscielniak ’05, who is majoring in aeronautical and astronautical engineering, is a member of the MIT concert band, and is involved with Habitat for Humanity. During the term, she works as a ‘Tech Caller’ for the MIT Alumni Association. Agnieszka’s interests include music and swimming. She spent last summer researching at the University of Maryland Institute for Systems Research. Agnieszka plans a career in aerospace engineering.

As you know, support from the Class of 1933 helps MIT maintain its commitment to admitting the best and brightest, regardless of need. On behalf of the Alumni Association and the Institute, I send sincere thanks for the Class of 1933’s contributions to this fund.
