Class of 1933 Scholarship Fund Awardees

2001-2002

I am delighted to report the Class of 1933 Scholarship Fund awardees for 2001/2002. Agnieszka Koscielniak ’05 of Frederick, Maryland has been selected as the new class scholar this year. Federico Gutierrez ’02 of El Paso, Texas and Daniel Nunes ’04 of Saint Clair Shore, Michigan will continue as class scholars this year.

Agnieszka Koscielniak ’05, who has yet to decide on a major, is a June graduate of Governor Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, where she performed with the concert and marching bands, and swam, both at school and with a community team. She volunteered with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the area public library. Agnieszka is planning a career in engineering after school.

Federico Gutierrez ’02, who is majoring in mechanical engineering, continues his involvement with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and is now the Treasurer of Pi Tau Sigma, the national mechanical engineering honor society. He serves the Burton-Conner dormitory as their rooming coordinator and does research through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program in the Field and Space Laboratory. Federico returned to his internship at the Ford Motor Company last summer and plans a career in mechanical engineering

Daniel Nunes ’04, who is majoring in electrical engineering and computer science, lives at the Pi Lambda Phi house, where he was president of last year’s pledge class. He plays the piano for the Tech Catholic Community Choir and is a Keyboard Champion under the auspices of the American Guild of Music in North America. Daniel does research through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program on “Opera of the Future” at the Media Lab. Last summer he interned with a financial advisory company near his home. He plans a career in business.

As you know, support from the Class of 1933 helps MIT maintain its commitment to admitting the best and brightest, regardless of need. On behalf of the Alumni Association and the Institute, I send sincere thanks for the Class of 1933’s contributions to this fund.
